David Ellingen is President/CEO of
Mitchell 1. Prior to his appointment at Mitchell 1, Ellingen
spent 25 years at Snap-on Incorporated where he held a variety
of management positions. In 1980 he was a field trainer in
the equipment line. He traveled throughout the United States
for three years visiting every state, giving him an excellent
understanding of how the Snap-on sales system works.
In 1984 Mr. Ellingen was a Product
Manager - Test Equipment for inside manufactured products.
He introduced key products to the marketplace (Counselor series,
AVR’s, assorted handheld) and was an integral part in
expanding Snap-on’s market share in the equipment business.
Mr. Ellingen was given the responsibility for both inside
and outside manufactured lines in 1985. In this capacity he
increased annual sales ten-fold prior to the Sun acquisition
in 1992. From 1988 to 1995 he was also in charge of all Snap-on
Equipment product lines on a worldwide basis.
In 1995 Mr. Ellingen was involved in the creation of Snap-on
Diagnostics Centers of Excellence. This involved taking eleven
different engineering operations, eliminating duplication
of effort and setting up a team to service all seven business
units with the combined engineering group. Mr. Ellingen also
took over the responsibility for worldwide management of Engineering
and Product Management of Snap-on Diagnostics.
In Late 1997 Mr. Ellingen was appointed President & CEO
of Mitchell1, a LLC with majority ownership by Snap-on Inc.
Mitchell1 maintains market leadership in both repair information
and shop management markets. Since the time Mr. Ellingen joined
Mitchell1 revenues have more than doubled.

Mr. Ellingen graduated from the University of Wisconsin with
a major in marketing and finance. He is married and has a
17-year-old daughter.
